Panel 1: “After his failure to find gold in Colorado, Billy Cody formed a partnership with a youth named Dave Harrington to go into the fur business on their own as trappers. They bought a yoke of oxen, a wagon, traps, strychnine to poison wolves, and started westward from Salt Creek Valley.”
Panel 2: “After travelling two hundred miles, they reached Prairie Creek where they found signs of an abundance of fur-bearing animals. Here they build a dugout in a hillside and a small corral for the oxen. .”
Panel 3: “Their efforts were crowned with success from the start, and they soon collected a large store of pelts. When not visiting the traps, they were busy skinning and salting the hides.”
Panel 4: “In the evenings, when the day’s work was done, the two would sit by the little fireplace, swapping stories and telling yarns. Tomorrow – An adventure with a bear.”
