Panel 3: “The record time made by the famous Pony Express was in carrying Pres. Lincoln’s first inaugural address westward in 1861. A copy of this address was carried by riders from St. Joseph, Missouri, to Sacramento, California in 7 days-17 hours. The first trip of the Pony Express between St. Joe and Sacramento had been made in ten days, but little by little the time required for the long dash was cut down.”
