Dearest Jennie
Your kind letter of the 17th inst is recvd. I know that you were disappointed in not receiving a line from me from Chicago, but I trust that the long letter I wrote you from here has fully reconciled you to the seeming neglect. I did not have time to write without [?] breaking away from the Rail Road men that called to see me.
Mr Bean Master of Transportation is here and has assumed the duties of his place. I may like him first impression not very favorable.
Cold and stormy, hard frost last night winter clothing and warm fires comfortable. The rain storm has passed and I hope that we may have good weather for business until about the first of december. Three or four hundred miles west of here quite a heavy fall of snow lies on the ground.
