Anne Haye says they've been volunteering as part of the Golden Eagle posse for six years. Guesses they've put in 500 hours each. Gruber describes what he was watching for as he watched the nest: adult and chick activity, prey that was brought to the nest. Haye says they documented anything they saw that might affect the productivity of the nest. She said it could be very boring, but there were those 'wonderful moments' when you could see activity in the nest. He says it could be tedious, but that 15 minutes in the eight hour span is ""why we are here."" He said you would get excited when you see the adult coming, or hear the cry of the female who sees the adult ""before we do.""
