Cow elk carcass on the side of the road. This appears to be a "road-kill", an elk that was hit and killed by a car, or truck. Apparently something has been scavenging on the elk: ravens and eagles inhabit the area. Not sure what took the hind quarters. Shot pans up to the highway next to the kill. Closer shot of the cow elk's back end, where something has removed the hind quarters. It is possible they were cut off. The internal organs have not been eaten, or removed by predators or scavengers. Shot pans up to the Shoshone River to the south of the carcass
