Smoke from the Little Venus fire over the Draper Wood River study site. Smoke over the mountains. More smoke from the Little Venus fire billowing over the landscape. Clearer sky to the south. Smoke bloom from the Little Venus fire to the west. More smoke. The Little Venus fire started June 19, 2006 from lightning, about thirty miles west of Meeteetse. It grew to almost 40 thousand acres in the Washakie Wilderness, and grew slower than fire managers predicted, because as it hit beetle killed dead trees, it burned slower. Closer shot of new fire starts from the Little Venus fire. Smoke covered skies, and cattle in foreground.
