Golden eagles eat different foods in different places. We're finding here in the Big Horn Basin that rabbits are the primary source of food. About the right size for a golden eagle. And we have cotton tails and jack rabbits here. Those are the primary sources of food. But, they also eat snakes, both rattle snakes and bull snakes, ground squirrels where they are available, and occasionally even pronghorn fawns and young deer fawns.
