Interview with Dr.Todd about proposed plan, which would allow snowmobiles and ATV's up on Franc's Peak, where grizzlies eat moths in the summertime. Todd says the remoteness of the backcountry and its inaccessibility is a rare resource in the U.S. He is concerned that the ATV's could disturb an exceptional record of 10 to 13 thousand years of human existence of humans on the landscape. He says ATV puts the heritage resource at risk. He says the Forest Service's planning process was doing a good job, but when it shifted from a draft plan to a recommended pland...seems like the people who were investedin the process were blindsighted by the sudden insertion of ATV access to remote places in the plant. Talks about how he grew up in the area...He says he spent his youth in the backcountry...retired early to bring his daughters to the place that he loved.
