Interview with Golden Eagle study project director Dr. Charles Preston. Preston says the study is focusing on golden eagle ecology where the animal has not been studied before. He says they wanted to determine baseline population density, buth then find out how the populations fluctuate, and then tie that in to weather, prey base, and then find out how it is affected by landscape composition and human activity. He talks about how technology cannot substitute for direct observation in the field. He talks about how the Golden Eagle Posse volunteers put in the manpower. He says they document how bird behavior changes from place to place, from season to season. He says the volunteers also inform about prey delivery. He says the project allows volunteers to be involved with the process of science that infiltrates the entire community.
